Institute for Operational Excellence Lead Trainer, OpEx advisor, and author Tim Healey specializes in teaching the principles of Operational Excellence in the business process sector in areas such as product development, finance, HR, engineering, and marketing. He is the co-author of the book Operational Excellence in Your Office: A Guide to Achieving Autonomous Value Stream Flow with Lean Techniques, has been published in Quality Digest, iSixSigma, and Lean Management Journal, and is a frequent speaker on lean office topics at conferences such as IIE Annual Conference and the Mid-Atlantic Lean Conference, and at the Institute for OpEx’s Operational Excellence in Your Office live training workshop. Tim has worked globally with organizations such as Parker Hannifin, United Technologies Corporation, Bayer Healthcare, and Curtiss Wright. Prior to joining the Institute, Tim served as national business manager for H.J. Heinz in Sydney and as a brand manager for British American Tobacco.
Bruno Daniel, MBA
Lead Trainer and OpEx Advisor
Bruno Daniel is an expert in designing and implementing OpEx principles that improve business performance and profitability in complex environments. Bruno has assisted many global organizations in operational transformations, including FMC Technologies, Chromalloy, SpaceX, Cincinnati Incorporated, and General Dynamics, using advanced lean techniques and the principles of Operational Excellence. Previously, he was a Lean Manufacturing Leader for JTEKT North America Corporation, managing improvement projects at all of the company’s North American facilities, and Lean Manufacturing Specialist for The Timken Company, where he taught and implemented lean principles at facilities globally. He began his 18-plus-year career in the industry as an Engineer Trainee in Brazil both with Alcoa and FCI Electronics. Bruno received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Centro Universitário do Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia and an MBA from Ibmec and Fundação Getulio Vargas.
Eric Smith

Institute for Operational Excellence Trainer and OpEx Advisor Eric Smith is an experienced leader in transforming both office and manufacturing operations through education, hands-on application, and coaching. He has guided major global corporations on their transformations, including General Dynamics, FMC Technologies, Worthington Industries, Hillenbrand, Baker Company, and Chromalloy. Before joining the Institute for OpEx, Eric applied lean principles while in engineering and operations management roles at Freudenberg-NOK. He earned his BS in Textile Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and his MBA from Georgia State University.
James Marrese

Institute for Operational Excellence trainer James Marrese has been with the Institute since its incorporation in 2007, working in both training and product development. Collaborating with other trainers and advisors, James has been instrumental in developing customized lean and Operational Excellence education programs for numerous global corporations, including United Technologies Corporation, FMC Technologies, Actuant Corporation, and more. James is also part of the Institute for OpEx’s resource development team that is responsible for launching new educational content, including online training, digital guides, and webinars. Working closing with the marketing team as a lean subject matter expert, James has authored numerous articles and industry reports, and has presented webinars on behalf of the Institute for OpEx. Prior to joining the Institute for OpEx, James worked in supply chain management at W.B. Mason.
